Welcome to the electronic home of the Indiana Music Teachers Association! More than 350 individuals throughout the state of Indiana join 27,000 colleagues nationwide to form a truly unique community of music professionals.

We invite you to browse our site and discover the value of being a member of IMTA. We're glad you are here!

For more than 120 years, the Indiana Music Teachers Association or IMTA, has fostered the instruction, study and performance of music throughout the state.

Member programs provide a multitude of opportunity for professional growth. Certification programs recognize pedagogical competence and promote the highest standards of music teaching. State conferences offer master classes, informational sessions, and an opportunity to share ideas with fellow teachers. Competitions encourage high standards of performance and composition among young musicians. Our print resources include the Directory of Lecturers and Clinicians also available online and the IMTF "Tips of the Trade" publication, mailed to 2002-2003 IMTA members.

IMTA continues to support efforts to retain music as an essential element in a complete education. Through commissioning grants, we foster the creation of new music and through District and Local Association programs, we support independent music teachers and defend their traditional workplaces.
