Using Campus Technology Issues as a Resource for Student Learning

  • Julie Jenson, Luther College
The Luther College Management Information Systems curriculum focuses on bringing together newly emerging concepts in technology under the framework of the business world. This paper looks at how current technology issues on campus can be used to enhance the MIS curriculum. This paper will discuss how current campus technology issues and plans can be used in introductory courses to help students with little background in technology relate to new concepts and to think about the issues they will face as users, builders, and decision-makers involved with technology. It will also look at how campus technology issues and needs can be utilized as "real world" learning and service opportunities for more advanced students. And finally, the paper will look at how faculty involvement in campus technology issues can enhance classroom teaching.
