The Power of Collaboration

  • Jim Workman, Pikeville College; and Rob Hoyt, Appalachian College Association

This presentation will demonstrate the work being done within the Appalachian College Association to assist its member institutions with technology on their respective campuses. The Appalachian College Association is a consortium of 34 private liberal arts colleges spread across the central Appalachian mountains in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Collectively the colleges serve over 30,000 students. The ACA encourages its member colleges to foster Appalachian history and culture; to share ideas, information, programs and resources; and to support the economic development of the region by serving as resources for agencies formulating regional policies. Some of the items that will be discussed include: The annual TechSummit, Central Library project(tech side), Quad grant project, Information Technology Collaborative Group (comprised of IT/IS staff from the member institutions), and joint purchasing opportunities.
