Managing technology in an educational environment is more and more calling for the adoption of unique, efficient and creative processes. One such process is the formation of strategic partnerships and alliances. This paper will provide insight into such a process initiated by Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) that has established a collaborative and cooperative environment favorable to the formation of (1) a Strategic Technology Alliance involving educational, cultural, research and governmental institutions within Cleveland’s University Circle and the northeast Ohio area; and (2) Strategic Technology Partnerships involving the Strategic Technology Alliance and technology vendors. Similarities and differences between this alliance and other similar consortia will be made. Work accomplished, to be done and benefits realized to date will also be discussed.
