David Metcalf, Ph.D
Chief Learning Technologist, RWD Technologies

As chief learning technologist for RWD Technologies™, Dr. David Metcalf is responsible for the analysis, design and strategic alignment of RWD's technology solutions for learning. Dr. Metcalf joined RWD after the successful sale of Merrimac Interactive, a 1997 spinoff company from the NASA Kennedy Space Center Multimedia Lab that Dr. Metcalf formerly headed. There, Dr. Metcalf ran the Web Interactive Training (WIT) project that produced some of the earliest, award-winning, Web-Based Training applications.

Dr. Metcalf holds a B.A. in Computer Graphics from the University of Texas, an M.S. in Computer-Based Learning, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University. He has also been awarded numerous eLearning Excellence Awards including a Gold Award in 2000 for the "Wireless eLearning IP Troubleshooting Guide for Palm VII" and the 2001 Worthy of Note Award for Grinnell Fire System's Voice-based eLearning Portal. He is also the author of Blended eLearning: the Integration of Knowledge, Performance Support, and Online Learning from HRD Press, 2002.
