E-Portfolios for Student Teachers—Second Year of a Pilot Program
George Weimer & Tim Hall, University of Indianapolis
This is the second year the University of Indianapolis piloted a program of e-portfolio development to meet licensing standards for the state of Indiana. DreamWeaver software was used in the first year of the program but was determined to have too great a learning curve. Stakeholders searched for alternative software and selected Lectora by Travantis Corporation. The University of Indianapolis Center for Instructional Technologies developed a template in Lectora based on requirements for the paper portfolio. The goal of the pilot was to increase student teacher reflection by demonstrating links between teaching standards and evidence within the entire document. Adding hyperlinks in Lectora software was easier for the students to accomplish with minimum training. Student copies of Lectora were available for a minimal charge. Participants may react to the sample portfolios and share ideas of e-portfolio development in education.
