While use of the Internet is common in many classrooms, rural America has difficulty accessing these services. Wiring for these advanced services is not commonplace in many rural communities. The Portable & Mobile Classroom provides a low cost alternative to wiring any rural meeting facility.
Saint Francis University’s Center of Excellence for Medically Under-Served Areas (CERMUSA) has created a trailer and associate hardware that will act as a connecting link between a remote classroom and the Internet. This connectivity, using a Motosat satellite dish and Ground Control (a low cost Internet provider), provide affordable connectivity to remote locations. The fully equipped trailer also stores laptop computers, which will allow students in the remote classroom to connect to the Internet. This presentation will explain the work being done with the portable & mobile classroom.
CERMUSA will have the trailer on-site for the duration of the meeting and will provide Internet service.
