Teaching a State of the Art Network Security Class
  • Gary Rogers, Macon State College & Jason Ashford, J.D., Assistant District Attorney

Teaching a state of the art Network Security Class can be a difficult endeavor. We propose to show how our Network security has proven to be a success with out students. We cover the major aspects of this topic arena such as spam, firewalls, proper design of a DMZ, etc. We present network security threats such as spam and students learn how to enact countermeasures. In this case, for example, students learn how to select, install and execute effective anti-spam products while also reporting on the results. This process is repeated in other security realms as well such as spyware.
