Creating and Sustaining Cyberspace Initiatives that Maximize Technology and Enhance Learning: Faculty Perspective at One Campus
  • Dr. G. H. Budd Sapp, Fairmont State University Dr. Don Moroose Dr. Sam Securro

This presentation will provide an overview of cyberspace initiatives that have been created and sustained at one higher education campus in an attempt to maximize technology and enhance learning. The presentation will focus on the experiences of two “non-techie” faculty members who have utilized the WebCT online learning management system as both neophytes and more experienced users. Initiatives that will be highlighted include: an online course development grant program, WebCT boot camp, WebCT academies, WebCT mentoring program, hybrid and online course offerings, learning technology center and library staff support, PT3 grant participation, and individual faculty/cohort online projects. Upon completion of this session, participants will have information necessary to begin the process of implementing similar cyberspace initiatives.
