Teaching and Learning Using 1 to 1 Wireless Mobile Technology
  • Lynette Molstad Gorder, Dakota State University

Mobile computers and wireless networks allow students to have access anywhere, anytime. Because the world today is a knowledge-based economy, a wireless mobile environment is becoming necessary so students have access to information all the time. Using a course management system along with a mobile wireless computer changes the classroom to become paperless. Advances in technology require faculty to be responsive to new methods of teaching by becoming skilled in various aspects of information technology involving the use of the tablet. Because students have a computer in front of them all the time in the classroom, new methods of teaching are required to keep students engaged in the content and what is happening in the classroom. This session will describe innovative practices in teaching using technology in the classroom, how mobile tablet computers change the classroom, and how Tablet PCs impact student learning and student learning styles.
