$$ - Finding It, Using It and Reaping the Benefits
  • Pamela Silvers, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

As state budgets are reduced, colleges and universities will need to seek additional sources of funding. At the same time, grant providers are looking for collaborative efforts between different types of educational institutions. In 2004, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College received a grant that was in partnership with the University of North Carolina-Asheville and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. The total grant funding was $600,000 over two years. This session will focus on the challenges and rewards of collaboration with universities on grants, including issues such as effective communication, shared resources, and collaborative research. Also the presenters will share the outcomes of the grant including an articulation agreement, work force development, and shared resources such as courses and workshops.
