Our student computer labs have sprung up by various means without a real ‘plan’ on how to maintain and upgrade the labs once established. After hearing frustrated students, irate faculty and burnt out support staff, we needed to evaluate the needs and the current situation to provide a plan for the future. We used several forms of analysis in evaluating our current labs and in determining what our needs are. In the session, you will find out what various surveying, monitoring and interviewing techniques we used to evaluate our current labs. You will see how we organized the data and made recommendations on how to proceed. You can take these techniques and apply the strategies to evaluate your labs and plan for the future. Finally, I will share our results and our plans for the future to meet the needs for students, faculty and staff and still stay on budget.
